Earth Day and Happy 250th from IU
Happy Earth Day! Let’s keep her healthy: take a walk, ride your bike, pick up some trash, and turn off the lights and read outside.

There’s a lot going on at my old stomping grounds, Indiana University. Little 500 Weekend is coming up (true confession: it wasn’t my scene … but have at it). They’re expecting a big crowd for the spring football scrimmage. I took my annual opportunity this week to talk about life in Corporate America and this year’s PR Management class was impressively engaged and loaded up with questions (especially with outdoor fun afoot).
But I need to call out an awesome exhibition at the Lilly Library. The Declaration of Independence: The Motives, The Moment is a fascinating sprint through history that’s part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebration. There’s plenty of artifacts that’ll catch your attention, but the pinnacle moment is seeing 1 of 26 remaining original copies of the Declaration of Independence. It’s worth combining a visit with everything else Bloomington has to offer. (And as a shout out to IU, the vast majority of the 26 copies are in east coast hotbeds like Philadelphia, Boston, New York, and Washington, D.C. It’s quite a coup for the Hoosier State).

Finally, a shout out to a client – the Ivy Tech Foundation. Yesterday was the 4th annual Ivy Tech Day and each year the results get better. The Foundation, the College, and the 19 campuses worked relentlessly to earn more than 3,100 gifts equaling more than $609,000 (an impressive $125,000 spike over 2025). The programs and scholarships that will be created are meaningful. In fact, more than 4 in 5 Ivy Tech graduates leave without the burden of student loan debt thanks to financial support.
And given the mountain of bills so many students now face, that alone is worth the applause.
